A quick poster for an upcoming Yale Symphony Orchestra concert. The goal here was to create something simple and iconic, while paying respect to the music performed. Mahler's 5th was perhaps his most exuberant, at least more so than the ones preceding it. As a piece, it goes from grand and monumental to uncharacteristically ornamented through its long run-time, and this poster aims to capture some of that musical character visually. The main visual - the M and the V - is large and iconic, and accented by the hint of ornamental linework around it. The linework's angles sets up the general shape of information, and creates the visual progression down the page.
The central graphic has also been designed to work in different aspect ratios, tiling out for Facebook banners and filling out a square profile picture format.
